All metal parts on every product Furutech offers are treated with the Two-Stage Cryogenic and Demagnetization (a) Alpha Process.
Using cutting-edge technology and materials, Furutech developed a low-temperature two-stage process that significantly improves every facet of audio and video performance. The treatment begins during the manufacturing process with a deep, conditioning cryogenic freeze of all metal parts. Using high-end refrigerants — liquid N2 or He — Furutech achieves temperatures of between -196 to -250C. The treated parts actually change their molecular structure at these extremes of temperature relieving internal stress. The molecules bond together more tightly and the overall structure becomes more stable. This improves electrical conductivity, power and signal transfer.
Step two in the Alpha Process exposes these same parts to the patented Ring Demagnetization treatment. Ordinary high power magnets used for this purpose often increase magnetization effects; they leave some areas more magnetized than others. Just like a CD spinning over a fixed magnet; when the CD stops the area above the magnet is still exposed to the magnetic field causing audible effects. This patented process uses controlled attenuation to completely eliminate magnetization for immediately more vivid and colorful improvements. Ring Demagnetization further enhances conductivity of all treated materials. The patent holder for this treatment is Sekiguchi Machine Sale Co., Ltd. in Japan; Furutech are licensed users of the technology.

About the Furutech FP-Alpha 3 OCC cable:
The OCC process for refining copper was developed and patented by Professor Ohno of the Chiba Institute of Technology in Japan. The OCC process utilizes a heated mold for casting and extruding, with cooling taking place in a separate process. The result is a larger crystal size and increased purity that approaches the 6N, 99.9998%! Looking at it another way, traditional copper has oxygen impurities of 200 to 500 parts per million (PPM), while traditional OFC copper reduces that to less than 10 PPM. With the OCC process, the figure is cut in half to less than 5 PPM of oxygen, and less than 0.25 PPM of hydrogen (compared to 0.5 PPM for OFC). With these results, the OCC process creates “ultra-pure” copper, and thus the acronym for the copper material is more properly known as “UP-OCC”, for Ultra-Pure, Ohno Continuous Casting. About the Furutech connectors we offer for our Alpha 11 Power Cable:
We searched, and tried several different connectors to use with this power cable. Some were less expensive, and some were more expensive. What we found through our research was that two series of the Furutech connectors gave us the absolute best performance. When only the best will do, select the Furutech FI-50 and FI-50M, or FI-52 and FI-52M Rhodium plated pure copper IEC and Power plug connectors (Select the FI-52 for 20 amp applications). The engineering, look and feel of these connectors is only surpassed by the outstanding performance we found when using them. The second choice of connectors for this cable are the Furutech FI-28 series Rhodium Plated Pure Copper IEC and Power Plug. These connectors are the best bang for the buck we offer for thee cables. The FI-28 series connectors offer close to the same performance as the FI-50 connectors, but at a lower price point.
About the Furutech FI-50 (R) and FI-50M (R) connectors: Furutech’s Pure Transmission FI-50 Piezo Ceramic series connector bodies and housings feature several breakthrough construction techniques. A multilayer nonmagnetic stainless steel and carbon fiber shell incorporates a special damping and insulating acetal copolymer. The body of the connectors combine two “active” materials: Nano-sized ceramic particles and powdered carbon.
